My lovely wife and I will be traveling to various countries in Europe to visit grad schools and meet with old friends. If you would like to schedule a meeting between January 23 and February 1 feel free to contact me.

My wife is a pretty fancy lady and she’s turning 30 this year. Since we think thats kinda like being officially grown up we wanted to have a dressy cocktail party. Our idea of dressy is so loose however that we though some examples might help.

I can’t be too sad about it, huge celebrities don’t have that effect on me. Although I do somehow feel responsible, partly because I feel like our demand for the king-of-pop made him what he was. Michael Jackson was a person forged equally out of talent, showmanship and consumerism. My friend Kate put it the best I have heard so far “For all the joy he brought the world, he should have had a better life.”

Agreed.

Bois Sec – A musician who was the topic of a short documentary we watched recently… truly amazing. Mardis Gras in smaller rural towns seems so much more amazing that what we ususally see coming out of New Orleans.

My wife and I have been taking screen grabs from most movies we watch. It’s a pretty interesting and fun way to maintain interest in some otherwise really dull films. Also its an amazing way to document the truely beautiful moments in great films. I’ll be uploading some of my favorites here as I upload them to flickr.

I got all excited about dioramas for a day and built one out of a paper box in my kitchen. This was the outcome which later became the inspiration and point of departure for the Flying Lotus Reset cover.
