This poster was created for a lecture on the topic of topology. While researching the practice I stumbled upon this quote from wikipedia

“An introductory exercise is to classify the uppercase letters of the English alphabet according to homeomorphism and homotopy equivalence. The result depends partially on the font used.”

Based on this I thought an interesting exercise would to be to create a typeface consisting of only the uppercase. This face would be designed with topological equivalence in mind. This poster was the result.

Having recently traveled to Europe to visit friends and check out some grad schools I thought my first trip out of the country was a worthy topic for some music.

Edinburgh was one of the more amazing places I have ever been and staying with my friend and former musical colleague was amazing. The night we got to Edinburgh we stayed up till 5am and due to a bit of jet lag and a lot of whiskey we slept in till 5pm the next day. Mr.Pitts took us out on the town and one of his friends related to our sleep-through-the-day ordeal, she said “I think Edinburgh was made for sleeping” so here is my little track featuring a sample of street sounds the morning evening we woke up.

I hope to make one of these for each town we visited. Hopefully I can follow through for once.

edinburgh is for sleeping

so apparently 1bit audio player the excellent mp3 playing plug-in by Mark Wheeler has been disabled by yet another stupid wordpress update. my apologies for the direct link.

Obscure shapes coming together to make a whole, that’s how I think of jazz. Well… the best jazz anyway.

The USC School of Architecture recently created a new foundation to expose student in the United States to design in Asia. The American Academy in China organizes exchange programs between architecture students at USC and various institutions throughout China. This poster/brochure was meant to encourage student to apply for the program and explain the curriculum. I felt the idea of western and eastern design philosophy intermingling could be expressed by borders being undone, the globe in effect dissolving and becoming a single location.

Make Something is a charity organization envision by Aaron Rose and supported by Kanye West. Make Something exists to fill the ever increasing gap between education and art in public school around the world. Through holding works shops with renown artists such as Shepard Fairey, Miranda July and Terry Richardson, Make Something! shows students first hand the practical and important values of being creative throughout their lives.

This short promotional book was designed with the intent of gathering further funding for the organization. It showed examples of student works and logistical plans for helping the art community thrive through it’s programs. This book was produced in extremely small numbers and was given out privately.
